Headquartered in Melbourne, Amcor is one of the world’s top three packaging companies with manufacturing sites in 39 countries and approximately 27,000 employees.
The company has substantial packaging businesses in five geographic areas – Australasia, North America, Latin America, Europe and Asia. In Australasia, Amcor offers a wide range of packaging and packaging related services.
Business Need
Amcor has experienced extensive damage to a printing plant valued at $5 million through the affects of irregular power supply and generalised surges. These conditions created not only damage but production downtime, which was expensive in real time.
How NPS Helped
NPS installed parallel redundant 3-phase 80kVA UPS systems to provide constant power supply battery backup in case of power failure. Also a maintenance bypass switch and a surge diverter were fitted to the incoming mains of the UPS for overall lightning/surge protection. The redundancy of the UPS systems enabled optimum security.
Result
Amcor can now operate the production with the knowledge that downtime is considerably reduced. The UPS and surge diverter are maintained under a preventative maintenance contract. Less downtime equals increased profit and improved safety.
